What did your online life look like in 2009? What phone were you using? What social media profiles did you have? Was “the cloud” anything other than that white puffy thing outside?
Like the online world itself, ExpressVPN has come a long way since launching in 2009. Your digital needs have changed over the past decade, and we’ve strived to meet them every step of the way with industry-leading features like TrustedServer, our Network Lock kill switch, our Lightway protocol, and much more. But as our lives go increasingly digital, there’s still more we can do to give you back control of your online experience.
Eleven years in, we’re still obsessed with giving people what they want and expect online: a private, secure, unrestricted internet. We work hard every day to make it possible for you, and for everyone. But while our tech has always been cutting-edge, now it’s time for the look and feel of our apps and website to match.
Here’s what’s new, and a sneak peek at what’s next:
A fresh look, inspired by forward motion
Speed has always been at the heart of our product. From near-instant connection times, to blazing-fast download speeds, to the lightning-quick responsiveness of our 24/7 Support Team, we know a need for speed drives your digital exploration.
Our new logo embodies that forward movement and energy—think of it as a digital tailwind to help you on your online journey, wherever it is you choose to go.
How we all engage and interact with the internet and our devices is constantly evolving; our expanded color palette and expressive illustration style represent that richer online experience. You’ll see it in our bold-colored buttons, in the welcoming peaches and purples on the app home screen, in the vivid imagery of our website, and in the vibrant blues of our enhanced icons and illustrations. Go behind the scenes of our redesign.
VPN and beyond: Go online, on your terms
In the past few months we’ve launched a slew of innovative features to better empower you to protect your online activity, and we look forward to introducing an expanded suite of privacy and security tools in the months and years ahead. Among our exciting developments:
- ExpressVPN’s Lightway technology, developed from the ground up by our engineers to provide a faster, more secure, and more reliable experience, particularly on the mobile devices that so many of us rely upon. Lightway offers seamless connectivity (no more drops when you get the elevator!) and longer battery life thanks to its elegant, lightweight codebase.
- Protection Summary, currently available on Android, offers a convenient, personalized snapshot of just how ExpressVPN is keeping you safe and secure online. Watch for wider availability later this year.
- Security Assistant, another app feature just launched in beta testing on Android, is a growing suite of capabilities aimed at helping you understand and take better control of your privacy and security, with actionable checklists tailored to your device.
- The Digital Security Lab, a first-of-its-kind initiative that informs our mission of building a safe, private, and open internet for all. Through in-depth research in collaboration with thought leaders and digital activists around the world, we hope to educate consumers about cybersecurity issues and empower them with the tools and resources they need to build a better digital future.
So what’s next? VPNs are essential for protecting yourself online, but they’re just one vital piece of the privacy and security puzzle. With online threats constantly evolving, we see possibilities for innovation that VPN tech alone can’t address.
We can’t wait to introduce even more ways to elevate your online experience in the coming months. We hope you love our new look and feel as much as we loved creating it. As always, we’d love to hear your feedback.
Stay tuned, and thank you for joining us on this exciting journey.

I am moving on from EVPN! I needed to update and I have to download and reinstall on all 5 devices! How is it possible that EVPN does not have an update feature that does not make the user/customer do all of the work? Unbelievable. It seems that every single virus or vpn program I have used over the years eventually starts to turn crappy. EVPN is now tat that stage. Bummer.
I test the Lightway protocol mode a few months ago and it was much more of a CPU hog than your traditional mode. Maybe it was a fluke but I hope it will be more computationally efficient in time.
Service is great and everything works on all devices, I just wish the Android TV app had a different color scheme. From across the room it is very hard to see what item is currently selected and we frequently end up ‘pressing the wrong button’. So it would be great if any future update could address that. Maybe a darker background and the currently selected item has a bright halo around it?
Anyway, just some food for thought. Keep up the good work 🙂
Hi guys thanks for the service these past two years, My first thoughts are who cares what everyone else is doing or how much the internet has changed, Just concentrate on what you guys do best and stick to that, Dont try to do so much at once it will backfire on you.
Would you please update the new menu bar logo for MacOS? It is incredibly difficult to determine whether or not it is connected at a glance. The post above about the logo being black when connected, and grayscale when not, would be a simple solution.
What a load of overblown narcissistic hype. I have no idea what Express VPN are talking about. Do I have to change my “Protocol” now to get Lightway or do I already have it with the new stupid logo that looks worse than the old one? The whole thing is self-centred and customer unfriendly. It went right over my head.
As long as you have the latest version of the app (for Mac, Windows, Android, Linux, or routers), you can see if the VPN protocol is set to Lightway and, if not, change it.
The new version has a very awkward icon in the menu bar. Connecting and disconnecting status is not visible at all.
I agree with Evgen, have been paying for ExpressVPN for several years and the old macOS menubar icon and browser extension icon were more clear to whether it is connected or not. I do not mind either way about logo but do want very visible as to whether connected or not. Especially macOS menubar – could be bright color and large check if connected. I would also like an easier way to connect from China and other areas with known issues, kind of like smart location but where you can say “I’m in China” and want to connect out from X country, the client will seek out the best connection at that moment. The help page gives a variety of alternate locations to try but no auto-routing if the main purpose is, say to check Gmail or a US newspaper. https://www.expressvpn.com/support/troubleshooting/china-status/
I love the new look. It’s Great!
i agree
I’m pleased with the description of improvements that you have made in ExpressVPN, and look forward to experiencing them. I do recommend ExpressVPN to everyone.
May I offer this concern? About 10% of males are red/green colorblind — the red of your logo and the green of highlighted fields appear gray to them. Imagine looking at this webpage in black and gray.
Please make it work well in UAE, that’s all I want from your app…so many times I cannot connect and when I do it’s very VERY slow….I’m sure your engineers can overcome this challenge if you recognize that this is a problem
Please don’t start using these flat shaded, 2D, soulless representations of humans. Does the same graphics designer work for every major corporation in the world? Jesus hell, what a cult. It’s creepy uncanny valley crap.
I am more comfortable banking and shopping online while utilizing a VPN service. I picked ExpressVPN because it was recommended. I signed up a few years ago, and have been happy (for the most part). I care about how it works, not how it looks. I am a little concerned about the comments claiming ExpressVPN is the most costly, though… I have not compared pricing in awhile, so this is a good reminder to investigate same ASAP.
That said, and since you’ve solicited feedback, the new logo and cartoon graphics look like the cheesy Microsoft clip art in older versions of Word. The previous logo and connection display window looked professional and determined (as in ready to protect).
This redesign ‘style’ would be a lovely reworking for gamification of elementary school basic coursework but is disappointingly underwhelming and unprofessional for a security software. I look at what your market-speak purports to accomplish with this ‘relaunch’ and just feel pity for your procurement staff having to approve the invoices. Next time, perhaps skip a board member’s newly-minted RISD grad (nepotism) hire and hand it off as a project to local third-graders… same outcome, cheaper process, and the corporation can use the project to show support for education, too.
One last note, I too, am having more sites refusing my connections unless I turn OFF ExpressVPN. Perhaps a blog post or better yet, an email about that issue would be good to send out to further demonstrate the value-add of your software. Thank you.
I have had the same problem with websites refusing my connections. Is it possible to automatically be connected to “the tunnel” instead of having to figure it out? Other than that I think Express VPN is great.
I tend to agree. Kinda underwhelmed by it. However I am new here and need to get up to speed w/ security. Looking forward to the tools that are promised. Hope it’s all in “easy speak” so I can understand it?

I’ll be 100% honest I couldn’t draw your old logo if I tried. I never paid attention. I don’t use your product for the logo. I use it for security. If that remains, make the logo whatever you want.
I read all the comments, it took a while and what can I say, many claim the dark mode in the application and others are upset with the logo; For my part, the logo is important for the brand, but what matters most to me as a user is the security and functionality of the application and if expressvpn guarantees that and much more, I don’t care about the logo, but to be honest If I liked the previous one, it was more beautiful and elegant, but I do not dislike this new logo in its entirety, it expresses a feeling of speed. But a company does not choose a logo to choose it because it seems more beautiful, if the gentlemen of expressvpn chose this new logo it is because they see that with it as a company they feel more represented in the service they offer and its quality, that is why I think it They chose, everything is a matter of us as clients getting used to it, and as for the interface I love the color green, it is my favorite, if they hit it, nothing compares to seeing your favorite color when you open your preferred security application .
“We trained hard, but it seemed every time we were beginning to form up into teams, we would be re-organized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by re-organizing, and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency and demoralization”.

I read “A New Era For Express VPN”& am happy to be using Express.
Underneath the heading VPN & beyond:Go online on your terms,it mentions Protection Summary & Security Assistantant for Android. In my opinion,it should also be for iOS.
Even though iOS is more secure, every little bit helps.
100%, Nothing is safe anymore. I want ExVPN on my iPhone and iPad to protect my business.
I can’t believe ExpressVPN has spent all this money to change their logo and go on a marketing blitz that announces nothing, while at the same time doing absolutely nothing to fix the problems with using ExpressVPN on Linux with network bridges.
Really ExpressVPN, how about spending a little money to fix this problem instead of ignoring it and buying new window drapes?
I am very happy with Express VPN, i am an belgian ,but live in china, and i am very greatful to vpn and its workers, always there to help or explain, the only good way to keep cotact with my friends all over Europ,i have been with vpn for an few years now,and let me tell you guys ,you all are the very best,i thank u for being here for me and many many others thank you,
ps, the logo is different ,but the service is great ,and thats whats matters most
The old logo was perfect. The new logo has no meaning. Go back to the old logo.
i left evpn to try other services , well other services really suck bad , they have way too much crap going on , i come back what is all this other crap going on with evpn ? i left right when you changed your logo , i hated logo then and i still hate it now because it looks too much like my diablo sport program logo for my mod chip too tune my chevy truck , but yes i like liked evpn because its plain and simple and dont have to do night classes to learn how to use it or at least never had to but with all this new crap your turning into just about any one of those worthless vpn services that totally suck i wont say any name if its not evpn then it totally sucks ! where is a dark mode ? because these fruit loop colors only work for my breakfast cereal fruitloops ! anything looks gay as hell and i dont want that crap on my phone or my computer you want it on yours im cool with that but at least give us the opition to change it ! most of all you guys got to the top not selling out and keeping it fucking simple we dont have extra time to learn how to use a new product after a hard day at work we like to relax with our families and kids and know that a company we pay is doing things right and make it eazy for us to use and feel safe ! old logo and dark colors blk and white ! no fruit-loop colors
thank you have nice day
Richard
I actually like the redesign. The old design looked similar to a browser logo & it’s nice to see distinct logos on my taskbar.
You know your doing it the right way when all people can do is criticize the look of a logo.. Pretty funny.. Been with you guys for 5 years and you are the best. Hope you have a productive 2021
Um…have you read all of the comments?
Service: Awesome
New Design: Just no. Gradients in 2021? Come on. And that beige color when we’re used to either white or black? Just give us a dark mode. Don’t try and come up with new colors hoping others are going to adopt them. The new interface looks like the 1980s. Nothing wrong with that era, but kind of a long time ago now. Also that logo? Every time I see it on my PC I’m like “What in the hell is that?.. Oh yeah! ExpressVPN”. Quite a fail if you ask me.
There are two choices to react to the initial message, knowing that you can do both at the same time:
– “I like it”
– “I leave a comment”
Why not add the third choice:
– “I don’t like it” 🙂
1. Thank you Express VPN for an outstanding product and equally outstanding customer service for many years. There are some competitors who have a good product too, but your customer service matches the products outstanding performance and that’s (in my opinion) what sets you apart
2. This is meant to be constructive and respectful. I truly wish to give some constructive criticism in order to help an outstanding company which has been very good to me for years.
3. The new rollout while stating quantam leaps in the product made no effort to explain what was better. At least from what I saw. Keep it basic. If you state you have made improvements, keep it in laymans (simple) terms, but explain it.
4. |The new logo is horrible. You had a logo that earned respect for years and threw it away for something that doesn’t even look like an “E”. To call that horrible is an understatement. I would trash it and go back to your legacy of years of honorable and professional service.
5. You are a great company. Your management is getting detached from the customer base to make these kind of changes with (apparantly; maybe I am wrong, but judging from the overwhelmingly negative response to this, it wasn’t done well, if done at all) without customer surveys and limited trial runs.
6. Great company and great customer service. I mean this to be respectful, grateful and to be helpful. You have been great to me and I will no doubt be with you ffor years to come, but I do suggest you heed this advice.
7. Thank you and have a great day.
Too much emphasis to your new graphics is being made by other users. It’s the service that counts bot the graphics and i am more than happy with the service I received. Keep it up guys.
yet another user: Change the logo back to the original, give us dark mode, please! 😀
Why did they change their art and logo to look like a horrible mixture of old 90’s typography and the block-colored noodle aesthetic favored by the big tech oligarchs? What was the purpose? It makes them seem far less trustworthy IMO. I didn’t want to update at first because I thought it was a horrible mistake.
So instead of spending money developing a dark mode for the app like people have been asking for you go and waste money on a needless ui refresh that you had to know was going to be somewhat controversial. Good job.
Who wrote your marketing puff, the Chinese Communist Party? All this BS right now is a little odd and concerning. I’m seriously considering canceling.
Express VPN slows my download speed by 50% no matter which server location I select. I don’t need the full download speed of my internet provider yet, so it’s not a major issue for me. I like Express VPNs ease of use and privacy emphasis, especially the flash memory instead of hard drives on their servers. If you could improve the speed, that would be ideal. I don’t think you spend time and money “upgrading” the look of the logo or app. Focus on the essentials: privacy, safety, speed. I’m still your customer and plan to remain one, so you’re on the right track for me!
When will split tunneling be available fo Mac again
Just bullet point summarize what you DO and DON’T DO. State the facts and myths. Your techs haven’t been able to help me install it on my router so that my ISP can’t sell my data. It’s possible to do–but customer service takes the least line of resistance here. I don’t care about marketing, mission statements and glitzy new interfaces. Don’t care at all. Tell me exactly what you are protecting against and what can be seen/hacked and not hacked. I still get targeted ads–means that Express does not prevent that. Please educate and keep it simple.
I don’t care about the marketing, interface face-lift or any mission statements. I want as much privacy as possible (including easy install on my router—which your chat techs have not been able to accomplish). Keep my hard drive info safe, yes–but I don’t like my ISP selling my data or identifying me. Give us bullet pointed summaries of the specific protection that we get—and what we do not yet get. I thought that ads would not be able to target me but that’s not true. Please publish the facts and the myths of what Express VPN does and does not do. Thank you.
Looks like most of this “exciting change” is cosmetic. Image rather than substance. That is the LAST thing we need in a VPN to protect privacy. We need enhanced function – not pretty pictures. I’ve been an Express VPN Customer for a LONG time. I love the service. But the current change looks like some X generation or TikTok wanna be got hold of a budget and launched a marketing campaign. Do we need this? People who subscribe to Express VPN expect top-of the-line function and technology enhancements for all the reasons you state. We don’t need/want a show. We are not politicians nor fools. Advance the tech, not the Logo (who cares) and save the pretty pictures. How much money did you waste on this logo fiasco? Must EVERYTHING in America be a “show”? Smarten Up and return to original mission. And dump the marketing company.
I assume this is expressvpn_3.4.0.62-1_amd64.deb, which does not work with Devuan, and I assume, any Debian spin that does not use systemd. Your support staff was unable to get it to work on my Devuan system. I am forced to use the previous version, expressvpn_3.3.0.21-1_amd64.deb. I won’t renew if it isn’t fixed.
I don’t really care about a new logo. I’m very happy with the service overall. I am, however, not very happy with the router firmware. It becomes more locked down with every update. I get that it is easier to support. But, since I joined it has gone from a slightly modified version of DD-WRT to a firmware so locked down it is useless to me. If you must do this for the technically challenged, please make an an advanced version for those who need it. I bought an expensive open-source router for the features available in DD-WRT or Tomato!
Gross… Why do I want a 70’s home care magazine cover on my PC?
And it’s still glaringly white.
The logo is also now bland and non-descript which makes it annoying to find.
Why not just keep it simplistic and add dark mode?
I disagree with those saying “looks don’t matter, gibe security!”. ExpressVPN is already exceptional in the security aspect: if they were lacking it then yes, leave UX for later. With that said, I recently tested a VPN with port forwarding and was amazed by how better bittorrent performed. This other solution doesn’t offer application split-tunneling, which is crucial for websites which hamper or deny VPN users. But, for my personal needs, having more seeds for rare torrents come before that. Therefore, sadly I’ll be using another solution until ExpressVPN offers port forwarding. Let it be noted that I’d even pay an extra buck for the feature, and wouldn’t mind a slight disavantage with regard to privacy (as long as it was my option to choose port forwarding or total privacy).
Logo was very nice, sorry to see it replaced by this. Also, the empty marketing language is weird… why? As long as it keeps working… never mind I guess.
MIJ MAAKT NIET UIT WAT VOOR LOGO IS MAAR IK BEN PERMANENT VERBANNEN VAN EEN SPEL NETWERK fLY OR DIE ONDANKS VPN DUS IK BEN NIET GOOD GENOEG BEVEILIGHT
Personally, I find the new interface very attractive. The region changes seem to me to be happening more quickly than before. It must also be said that it is one of the most expensive VPNs, and that the quality must follow. The budget suffers especially with the health crisis we are going through. Money is scarce. At this price, I am tempted for next year to go and see the competition. I will see !!!
I don’t care about the look of your services. I care about performance and responsiveness. Your server in Milan went out many months ago. You’ve assured me many times you were working to resolve the problem but it still doesn’t work. Even your server in Cosenza, Italy goes out once in a while. Are you ever going to fix this problem? If not, there are lots of other VPN providers out there.
Not feeling the Looney Tunes look
10-4 REALLY NOT LIKING the “New” look !
Not a big deal, but can we fix the icon I’ve pinned to my taskbar for Express VPN? It’s just a blank page, before and after the update.
Very nice! Meanwhile I’d point out that the number of sites that refuse connection (e.g. banks) are increasing. Any way to go round?
If a bank refuses a connection they are placing their own customers at risk. There are many reasons a person may need to connect to their bank while using public wifi. If my bank refused connections I would complain to the bank and explain the reasons they need to accept vpn connections from their clients.
Instead you could update your IPs. They are mostly all of them are being recognized as spam IPs, and get a lot of capchas. need more fresh IPs for each country. who cares about looks and skins.
The new logo is ugly. My first response to seeing it was, “What the hell is this?” Change it back. And fire whatever marketing company you hired to create it and write the following flowery word salad… “Our new logo embodies that forward movement and energy—think of it as a digital tailwind to help you on your online journey, wherever it is you choose to go.” Stop trying to be cute. You don’t have to be Apple. Just keep things simple and continue to do what you are doing. You are scaring us.
Although not quite as affected as Jimmy I do have to agree that all this marketing fluff is entirely irrelevant to the purpose of the product. It does cast doubt in my mind as well about the real mission here. The tech aspect is impressive and I believe should stand on its own as the true upgrade. Hopefully you have gotten this out of your system and will work in full to make all your sites and the client work at their full potential five 9’s. Your marketing firm is just bandwagoning, no value, innovation or integrity advancing obvious in any of their changes.
I agree. Change just for the sake of change is never a good idea. Designers feel obligated to change things to justify their existence as designers. The new logo not only looks amateurish, it is difficult to locate on the sidebar.
That’s your perspective. I like it.
Dark mode would be nice.
Very….RETRO.
Reminds me of Warner brother cartoons…and staff.
Donno if that can represent a “New Era”, but I do enjoy the retro style…
Still, gonna need a while to get used to it…
I really can’t see the reasoning behind the change. I have used it constantly since 2013 while at the time advised it to be the best VPV for China, and I’ve always found it to be a reliable product. Updates and customer service has been excellent throughout and the product already has a good reputation. To be honest I preferred the old logo and colour scheme. This one is harsh on the eye when connecting while being anonymous amongst others on the desktop. Surely any improvements simply needed to be made in the background? Well as long as it continues to be reliable that is the main thing
You right.
I prefere The old logo.
Agree, reliability and functionality is the core. All I use the interface for is to click on a button, doesn’t really care if it’s green, red or whatever as long as it works. I personally don’t see any gain in changing colors or logos.
Loving the new look guys! I’ve enjoyed the simple use of ExpressVPN. I am an Apple user (macOS and iOS), so I would love to see some deeper integrations for the Mac and iOS system, such as voice activation/deactivation using Siri, or even just a widget that has the on/off button.
I hate the new look and that green is terrible. Sorry but it’s not a good change. Dark mode would be way better.
I may be the exception, because I have no complaints. In fact now, I don’t know what I did without it. I use it for personal correspondence, and rely on it for the encryption of delicate information, and for privacy when downloading sensitive content, for most of every day. Keep up the great work EVPN.
How do I upgrade my vpn?
Hi Robert, please refer to our support page to update ExpressVPN on your device: https://www.expressvpn.com/support/troubleshooting/download-update-expressvpn-app/
yup …i think i like the new version of Expressvpn. from the icon to the connection page. all looks perfect. however, I am not sure if it just happened to me only that the connection is not stable in china sometimes, when I switch to the new version.
I am pretty sure that using ExpressVPN’s DNS slows things down a lot for me. I suspect that your DNS servers are not anywhere near as snappy as 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) or others. Is this the case?
What does badge value tick/check mark mean?
I get a little nervous when you use LIBERAL pro-words like “forward”, “progressive”, or the like. Makes me feel like that your employee base has been infiltrated by those who would do you harm and sell the rest of us out just to expose and silence us. As a conservative, I place a great deal of weight on how you express yourself. Are you anti-conservative?
This is one of the dumbest expressions of thought I’ve witnessed in quite some time. Congratulations.
😂😂😂😂
So says you LIBERAL ASSHAT… YOU ARE The Dumbest Expression of thought possible in this 3D Universe…
It’s actually very wise. Progressivism is the poison that is killing the USA
Jerry, ExpressVPN is very conservative-friendly. It requires almost no education or intelligence to use it.
Ouch !
Maybe the staff at EVP could produce alternative software for ‘conservatives’ that use instead ‘backward’ and ‘regressive’ to replace the problem terms.
Whats new? Just the skin (looks) of the app? I must be missing something otherwise this is lame.
I would like a clearer flag icon in the menu bar on my 27-inch Mac when VPN is connected. Right now you can hardly tell if it is connected or not. Why not keep the logo black when it is not connected and, for example, green when it is connected?
Easy!
I need google play store and firestick to roll up the update to the newest version please! Im still getting 9.3 version when i update on these devices.
Would be good to have a preference to disable the new connect button effect and just return to the simple red and green. Likewise the ugly new icon, reminds me of a 70s electricity logo that was an abstract electric kettle.
Listen, I don’t need pretty buttons. I don’t need a fancy logo. I don’t care if the interface looks like Windows95. I don’t need a security tool that helps me see how I’ve been protected, that should be on the backend.
What I DO need is to know, when I land in a different country, and I need access to geolocked information, I can bypass local governments and silly country licensing restrictions. I need to hit the ON button, watch it go green, and forget its there. I need to know when I pay for a US subscription service, I can use that service anywhere because Express has my back.
Fix the places you can’t bypass. Fix the services that are on to you. Be the best there is. Wage war on censorship. Unlock everything.
That’s the blog post I want to read.
Amen to that (not denomination specific). Also, if the connection drops, I want the mobile app to continue to try to reconnect, not stop after a while and leave my phone disconnected without me knowing.
I agree with that 100%. I do not like having to keep checking to make sure the VPN is on. As far as the visual changes they are nice. I just want the good service..
Amen to that…
Yes in Spades! well said!
Agreed!!
How to guide on setting up Google TV with service.
This might help: https://www.expressvpn.com/support/vpn-setup/setup-chromecast-with-google-tv/
Feature I’d love to see: Virtually bridge my mobile connection to my home network connection on the same ExpressVPN server. I’d like my phone to be on my home’s subnet for access to local devices there without having to run a separate, private VPN server at home.
Please enable (the option for) automatic updates in the desktop apps. It seems every time I open the app, there is a new update that I need to go to the site for, download it, install it. I just want the option to have updates install automatically in the background like most other modern apps. Although I appreciate some will still want manual control over their updates. Everything else is great!
Please make it easier to install ExpressVPN on AppleTV
I agree 1000%! Wish they would address this issue!
VPN’s (ExpressVPN included, as it’s what I use) are becoming more and more of a hassle because not enough is being done about people who abuse the IP addresses. Every server I try either already has many websites blocking it’s IP, or does within a few days. It’s a game of constantly playing Captcha games or switching servers to HOPEFULLY find one that isn’t yet blocking the website or service your trying to use.
Is it fully compatible with Big Sur?
I’d love to see port forwarding support. Yes, some of still use dc++…
Seems like Android is your priority and that you’re giving less attention to Apple.
Most importantly, when will these services work reliable – consistently – in China? That’s the real question of importance.
Too True. In my recent experience, doesn’t work in China. That’s a HUGE problem that needs to be constantly addressed. no point in a new loge of we can;t get through Great Firewall.
On macOS menu bar, the new EVPN icon makes it extremely difficult to see whether we are connected or not.
Hope you solve this problem soon (for example, you might color the check sign which is displayed on the icon when connected).
Thanks for your attention.
just chrome and polish (marketing)
I’ve been around the corporate world a good while, and your message about the new logo is typically cliche. Someone in your organization came up with the idea to “improve” upon something that didn’t need fixing–all the execs swallowed it up, and now you’re out to impress and convince your customers. What a waste of time. Stick with what made you the leading VPN in the industry–staying on top of the ever-changing challenges of security and anonymity. I primarily depend upon ExpressVPN to keep me connected to the outside world when I travel to China. I don’t give a hoot about your logo.
With all due respect, out of all the really important things that a VPN company could improve to make its users more secure and have less restrictions online, you guys decide to change your logo and update your website make it a big deal? Is that a joke? Please prioritize your resources on what really matters (innovative and reliable technology to keep your customers ahead of the ever-evolving security threats online) and not some silly logo redesign.
Every time I travel to restricted countries, I make sure I have Express VPN. I trust this VPN and highly recommend it.
Will new express VPN enable me to access ITV hub and BBC iplayer in France
can you improve the task icon with Tool Tip info about IP and the location. Also. red color of the task icon is so so red that i can barely see the green dot indicating the status. I just switched to ExpressVPN and the icon design is not very user friendly. Looks like my system has a critical error indication. Please consider fixing it up and making it easier to see the status.
Do you have a loaded VPN router for sale? If so, where do I find? If not, can someone help me load the VPN info on my netgear router? If not, help me in general to add VPN to current cable router. I am in Mexico City.
Jackie
Hi Jackie, you can purchase routers pre-configured with ExpressVPN at flashrouters.com.
An adblocker option would be nice.
I agree, automatic updates would be great….no downloading an app then going through all the crap to update. I could give a toot about the color as long as its NOT red…I hate red anything!! Otherwise I’m happy with the service because I’m a “simpleton” and not techy and don’t understand most of what these other customers are saying….and too old to care.
Anyone overcome the ITVHUb using a firestick?
With the advent of quantum computers (see the latest from China in case you don’t know about it), “strong” encryption is no longer adequate to protect privacy. Unbreakable encryption (impervious to computing power and time) is available. I always use unbreakable encryption when I want privacy on the Internet, and even on my home network. No one will care until the NSA and the Chinese break your encryption. Then you will have to play quick catch-up while you lose business.
hello, so far your services our out standing ,five stars from me.
thank you.
It looks pretty good! The red is much lighter, the logo looks good. It looks different.
You do indeed have a wonderful product, even better thanks to the recent changes. This is why I don’t understand the need for fake VPN reviews sites, clearly put together by you guys to advertise your product. If anything, they put off potential customers. I’ve waited years before actually giving ExpressVPN a try, just because your “marketing” makes your product look like a scam.
I do not see Mac systems on your list of initiatives. When will they receive attention?
The new look and palette are fine, but that new Start Menu icon (the #da3940 ‘e’ on a #425c6c background) in Windows is very hard on the eyes.
On mediaserver can you allow the subscriber to selectively turnoff who is redirected? I would like to continue to use Netflix in my resident country while redirecting Hulu to the USA.
Generally, no. Once you’re using MediaStreamer, it will apply to every device on your network, unless you override it with a VPN. I would suggest getting in touch with Support for solutions.
Would be nice to have more of the Android features on iOS… like auto-connect when on untrusted WiFi and then auto-off when on trusted network or WiFi disconnects. Nord and Surfshark offer this for iOS, but Express doesn’t. Seems like ExpressVPN only wants to innovate for Android customers
Is there a way to select a VPN by state? Would really love to be able to watch home market football games from another state without hassle.
I tend not to trust companies that rely on cutting edge marketing buzzwords in a fact-lite, self congratulatory promotional piece. You are trying to lure me in with my emotions. Far too often I have found that companies that operate this way are hiding technical deficiencies.
I can not get NBA or NHL sites to let me into content blacked out by the regional provider, which I can not access through any source. I want to use my laptop or ipad games. Why is VPN not working?
Why couldn’t you just leave it alone. If it wasn’t that good to begin with I chose the wrong VPM. So many companies change things just for the sake of appearing to staying up with their competition. It just makes things more confusing. Not everyone is a computer geek. Just keep it simple instead of trying to impress a bunch of teenagers.
Why do I continue to have problems with EVPN running on my home computer? I have talked with your staff, done everything, followed all instructions, have the most recent software and it will not work.
Am seeing there’s a new express vpn out is that right & people talking about it so how do a get This am using firestick ?
You have an excellent & secure VPN. Time to team up with trusted companies devoted to cyber security, secure tools & apps like email, browsers. Stand together to better protect your dear clients.
Express VPN is like my Beer Coat, when I’ve got it on I feel safe from the bad world.
How about a simple in-app update button that checks for an update and give you the option to update? Seems like most apps have this capability now. 🍻
I’m going to continue to recommend your service to my friends. You’ve got every angle covered, and I truly feel safe and secure while browsing. Nothing is lacking and it’s affordable to all. Don’t change.
Just came back from the UAE (Dubai). ExpressVPN works nice if you go through the UAE telcom companies (4G), but it does not work if you use hotel wifi; most of the hotels are able to recognize ExpressVPN traffic and block it. Would be very nice if you could improve this…
Agreed
Gentle person’s,
That’s what I call a kick a$$ dev team…..you guys rock nailed the UI..and my speeds have doubled!!………..you’ve just set the standard for VPN’s…….😎✌️
This big announcement is just an overblown advertisement. “Where’s the Beef!?”
Excellent service, excellent support (been using you guys when i was in China and you were the only VPN working over there). Would be great to have a dedicated service tailored for IPTV.. all BB providers in the UK are blocking IPTV since the autumn so a lot of people use VPN (in case u saw a surge in new customers this was the reason 🙂 )
How difficult would it be for ExpressVPN to automate updates to all devices? Our PC and iMac Pro get update notifications. However, our iPhones, iPads, and TV do not. If ExpressVPN is running on those other devices, why can’t they be automatically updated?
Newer, faster, added features, more efficiency–those all desirable features for update a company’s servce. But I hate it when severe design changes are made just so somebody’s new buddy of a website designer gets a contract! The complications of newer design updates thrust upon you customers frustrate them and defeat all your attempts at gaining their goodwill regarding the improvements in service. There’s an old American saying: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!!!”
I’m afraid it looks like a downgrade, sorry. Terrible move.
Haven’t seen any of these so-called changes… For Linux, is it still just the console interface.
WRT “dark mode or black theme”. I learned many years ago not to use terms or acronyms in my technical or administrative tasks. If you do this constantly, people have a number of choices. (1) won’t read it; (2) Think you are showing off, causing you to get a lot of e-mail asking/telling you to rewrite your information in a simpler way; or incorrectly understand what you were trying to say. So, please tell me what you are talking about. Thank you.
Why is it so bloody hard to update?
There’s a lot here about the unimportant styling of the app and much less about how well it performs. It does not perform well on IPlayer: is this new version going to be any better, or will you still keep apologizing nicely about it while telling me how colourful the front end now looks?
Guys, you destroyed that logo! Whoever made that decision should be fired!
Your new icon is no more than a meaningless three-tier horizontal red blob.
Hello everyone, I clearly made the right choice in choosing you, I feel safe, the team is nice and always available for all questions or problems, well done! Baïkal.
Bonjour
Quand allez vous communiquer aussi en français je ne peux pas prendre connaissance de ces informations ” merci
No Mac M1 native support yet and VERY slow when using intel version under Rosetta. No dark mode still (even if people have been asking for this for over a year) and you guys refer to this a “new era” for ExpressVPN? For the most expensive VPN service out there, I am expecting better, sorry.
Bonjour.
Est-ce possible que je reçoive toutes vos informations par e-mail mais uniquement en FRANÇAIS ? Se serait apprécié.
Mon abonnement pour le système Apple me permet-il d’inclure un VPN pour un PC système Windows ?
Merci
Frédéric
VPN express server speeds. I am provisioned for 600 mbps d/l ..testing it I get results 530-550. I connect to express and that drop to 35 – 80 on a wired connection. Just wish your connectivity were a bit more robust. I opened support ticket with you guys and got no where. Just venting.
Lou
I would rather you work on restoring the split tunneling feature that we lost on updating to Big Sur. This is more important to me than a “new look”.
I always feel secure as I see ExpressVPN connecting to the internet each morning when I restart my computer. I’m always hoping that it is working as advertised. The SPAM I receive has been much less. Best wishes to ExpressVPN.
That’s true. I use to get so much . With expressvpn .. maybe one or two get through….a month.
I think the new logo is meaningless and in no way suggests “forward movement and energy.” The earlier logo better encapsulated “forward movement and energy.”
Numerous feedback over the past regarding smart location which shows my current physical location. Either remove the smart location feature completely or provide custom adjustment to smart location. I never used the smart location at all and I felt it’s just an eye sore.
I honestly like the previous logo better. The new logo looks more dated to me like a logo of a long-standing courier company.
I always wondered why EVPN makes it almost impossible to update to the current version. It takes so much time (really impossible) to find the download link, I’ve given up even trying. Strange policy these guys have.
You need to get a dark theme. Using this app on large screens – TVs and Laptops especially at night blinds us because Every other app is in dark mode. I’ve been asking as have your other customers for years now. Great with the tech and safety upgrades but please move on this!? 🙏
Hello, please change the white background of the software. I use it in my android tv and the white background of the software is light my house. I would like to choose a darker color.
Is it possible for browser extension to work separately? As frigate, for example.
Now ExpressVPN extension have the same functionality as main application, but the main use case of VPN browser extention – is to route only browser traffic (or, if possible – only one browser tab traffic) via VPN.
Well said maxtar. I would like this functionality as well. The browser extention should only route browser traffic.
100% agree.
Whats this going to cost me?
Server in Hawaii for those of us in Australia. Going all the way to LA and back kills latency!!! Just a suggestion.
I don’t want to be a hater but your new logo scared the shit out of me.
You provide security and trust. You don’t freaking change the logo for something really different we can not recognize . I don’t usually overthink but between my thoughts when seen an unrecognized logo on my device instead a VPN were:
-This is not my VPN. I didn’t installed this, I got a virus, hacked….
When I discovered that you actually change the logo for something really different:
-Some idiot bought the company and decided to impregnated it’s stupid ideas on the brand. Who could understand so little about it’s customers and brand? What the fuck else decided to change?
Seriously, nobody thought that you could scare your customers and that as VPN provider that’s a solid no?
Exquisitely breathtaking!
Trust, Innovation, Privacy, Security, and Freedom is the amalgamation of ExpressVPN.
💪👏👍
(PS Harold, I wish you’d answer my Twitter DM’s ; Your energy field and persona is positively striking! 😇)
Ugly design. Absolutely don’t like it.
Me too! Very old fashioned! Who does use Serifs fonts in a logo in 2021?
I don’t like the new one. It doesn’t show character. Sorry I did like the old one.
I’m afraid I disagree with having a dark mode or black theme.
ExpressVPN is known for keeping it’s UI simple, efficient, and straightforward—no need to have bloatware and extra stuff that are not vital to the end-user. It’s my humble opinion. Thanks.
Dude if I open Express VPN at night my eyeballs catch fire.
Ha Ha …
May not be vital for some but it is for other large screen users. It’s 2021, everyone is using the dark mode in every app. It’s saves energy, helps night time health and above all stops blinding ppl.
Companies like ExpressVPM are always adding more bloatware under the impression that it makes them look more savvy. Just keep it simple.
You do not need to use a dark mode if you do not want to, whats wrong with having an option to turn on dark mode, The white mode is like having a Flash Light pointing at you all the time.
+1 for a dark theme option please, white is far too bright.
Serious? You really think adding a dark mode would create bloat instead of being easier on users eyes? Especially at night!
Haven’t you notice the Night Light setting in Windows 10?
https://www.howtogeek.com/302186/how-to-enable-night-light-on-windows-10/
I agree! KISS method!
it looks pretty and fresh, but I’d appreciate a black theme way more to be honest, been asking for it for 3 years already
Yeah a dark mode would be great.
We have a dark mode for our browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. The browser extensions can be used to control the ExpressVPN app.
We want it in the app not a browser extension.
+1
It’s only a browser extension if you choose it to be…it IS a standalone app for your PC/Mac and mobile phone if you want to. Just download it from the expressvpn.com website!
